Fuel Consumption Monitoring Experience

LLS5

Our high-precision capacitive fuel-level sensors are exceptionally robust, extremely precise (99.5% accuracy), totally reliable (highest possible ingress protection rating of IP69k) and super-safe. They deliver consistently high accuracy in even the harshest conditions.

Omnicomm’s digital data transmission protocol has become the de facto industry standard in capacitive fuel-level sensors globally.

The sensors work both with OMNICOMM tracking equipment and are compatible with the most popular vehicle trackers and tracking platforms.

Omnicomm’s sensors include the adaptable OMNICOMM LLS 5 and adaptable explosion-proof OMNICOMM LLS-Ex 5, digital OMNICOMM LLS 4 and OMNICOMM LLS-AF 4 with analogue and frequency-modulated output.

OMNICOM LLS 5

Constantly changing fuel characteristics can dramatically affect the accuracy of fuel measurements. Factors as diverse as oil manufacturing methods, additives used in gasoline production, switching from winter to summer fuel and fuelling at different stations affect the physical characteristics of filled fuel. Capacitive sensors measure a specific characteristic (dielectric permittivity) that can differ significantly from the dielectric permittivity of the fuel used during calibration – causing errors in fuel-level calculations of up to 30%.

OMNICOMM LLS 5 uses OMNICOMM's unique Fuelscan® technology to guarantee unprecedented accuracy of 99.5% in all conditions. Using measurements from an additional probe in the sensor to compare filled fuel characteristics with the fuel used for calibration and calculate measurements accordingly, this sensor sets a new industry standard and is twice as accurate as regular capacitive fuel-level sensors.

OMNICOMM LLS 5 reduces maintenance and re-calibration needs with the ability to compensate for errors in initial calibration, an issue that affects 20% of installed sensors. It provides precise fuel accounting for fleet owners and builds customer loyalty for installation partners who can confidently deliver on promises of accuracy.

The sensor has the highest possible ingress protection rating (IP69K), allowing high-pressure hot-water washes.

OMNICOMM LLS-Ex 5

OMNICOMM LLS-Ex 5 is the explosion-proof version of OMNICOMM LLS 5, using OMNICOMM's auto-adjusting Fuelscan® technology to guarantee unprecedented accuracy of 99.5% in all conditions.

Factors as diverse as oil manufacturing methods, additives used in gasoline production, switching from winter to summer fuel, fuelling at different stations and switching from diesel to gasoline in stationary storage tanks affect the physical characteristics of filled fuel. OMNICOMM LLS-Ex 5 features additional explosion protection and is designed for use in equipment operating in potentially hazardous areas. It can be installed in vehicle fuel tanks or stationary storage tanks up to 6 meters in height.

The new Omnicomm LLS 4 is extremely tough, accurate and reliable with increased all-round protection, including against electrostatic, electromagnetic and conducted interference.

The sensor head is designed to improve shock resistance while its compact size facilitates installation even in units very close to the fuel tank. The new enhanced cable connection slot with over-moulding is ultra-resistant to humidity, providing protection even when subjected to high-pressure washes.

The LLS 4 has an improved ingress protection rating of IP-69K.

We’ve reworked the hardware design of the new Omnicomm LLS-AF4 to achieve even greater stability. This seriously robust and efficient sensor is intended for use with cheaper terminals that  don’t yet support connection of the LLS 4 digital sensor over RS232/RS485 interfaces.

The LLS-AF 4 has analog and frequency-modulated outputs protected by galvanic insulation and works independently throughout the range of power supply voltage. It is equipped with a ‘Tough Road Conditions’ mode, as well as an enhanced cable connection slot that is ultra-resistant to humidity.

The LLS-AF 4 has an improved ingress protection rating of IP-69K.
